I discovered that many website links go to this page and not the home page. So I wanted the information readily available.
Shop hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1:00pm-5:00pm for the winter Friday and Saturday 10:00am – 5:00pm
Please call if you have any questions.
Reminder: the shop will be closed Friday and Saturday 9/25-9/26.
The shop will be OPEN next week the following times:
Tuesday 9/29. 10:00am – 2:00pm
Wednesday 9/30. 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Thursday 10/01. Closed
Friday 10/02. 10:00am – 5:00pm
Saturday 10/03. 10:00am – 5:00pm
Please stop in and visit Laura and Patti while I am gone. New fall/winter yarns have arrived and are on the floor for sale.
Kids are back in school, shops are putting up Christmas displays (say it isn’t so!) and people are reluctantly starting to think about Christmas projects to be done.
I have a lot of new yarn coming in almost weekly. Fall colors and weights are arriving along with new yarns from Berroco, Cascade, Euro Yarns, and others.
Starting with September’s First Friday with the Arts, I will be hosting yarn tastings. Yep, we will taste the yarns, but with our fingers and eyes, not with our tongues. I think the fuzziness would be a bit too much.
So drop in Friday, September 4th, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm to sample knit or crochet Berroco yarns. There will be new yarns to sample along with all in stock Berroco yarns. Added bonuses: wine, cheese and a 10% discount on Berroco!
See you on the 4th!
June 19th! Where has the time gone? Settling in at the new location – 521 Broadway. For those of you familiar with Cape, I am between Shivelbine’s Music Store and Bob’s Red Wing Shoes Store.
We all know what comes in six months. EGAD! It’s only 6 months and I have how many projects to get done?
Let’s see if this helps to get you motivated.
We’ve Moved! Open for business at 521 Broadway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701
New Hours are Tuesday – Thursday 1:00 – 6:00; Friday – Saturday 10:00 – 5:00

Move date is ten days away! Yippee! Lots happening. Getting the new location ready, making decisions, phone calls, etc. I can’t wait until you see the new space!
I am opening April 1st at 521 Broadway, a few doors east (the river for directionally challenged individuals) of Shivelbines. More space! More parking! Window! YEAH!
Open house will be Friday night, April 3rd from 5pm-9pm during First Friday with the Arts and Saturday, April 4th from 10am-5pm. Stop in and check it all out.
Phone number will remain the same. 319-350-8150
Look forward to seeing you there!
Hot Tea and Cookies!
I am the worst at blogging. I’m sorry. I promise I will do a better job. Promise!
The Tangled Yarn has been open 10 months! What a ride! I have enjoyed it so much and can’t wait to continue growing my business and my skill.
Latest News – I am moving to a new location April 1st! I will be located at 521 Broadway. It is a few doors down from Shivelbine’s Music and kitty-corner from Annie Laurie’s Antiques. My own space! A window! Street front! Parking in front, in back and a few doors down in the city lot across from The Discovery Playhouse.
It is a bigger shop so I’ll be carrying more yarns and have a few comfy chairs along with my table and chairs in the back. There will be coffee, tea, water and wine for refreshment and there will usually be cookies around (and chocolate, of course).
The new hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1:00 – 6:00 and Friday and Saturday 10:00 – 5:00. I want to stress the shop is open not just for sales but for a place to gather and knit, crochet, chat, share.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Hot and humid. July in Missouri. River is rising from all the rains up north. We have received rains, but they have been hard and quick and we haven’t had the flooding that the north has had.
Classes have not gone well. People sign up and don’t attend. Most don’t tell you they are not coming. In the future, I will get an email or phone and remind people in case they forget. Not a big deal currently because I am holding classes during shop hours. It will become a bigger issue when I start a night class in the fall.
So many yarns in. I carry all kinds of fibers and blends from many vendors. Primary vendors are Kraemer, Ella Rae, Berroco, Viking, Lang, Cascade, James C. Brett, Araucania, Mountain Colors, Juniper Moon Farms…… More is ordered. I did order Madelinetosh but delivery time is 14 weeks. Yikes. I have one wonderful customer that keeps coming it to check if it is here. I’ll make sure I post here and on Facebook when it arrives.
I have really enjoyed meeting downtown merchants. The group we are part of is Old Town Cape. We met last night to start planning for the premiere of Gone Girl on October 3rd. A large part of the film was done here in Cape.
Come see me! I look forward to the day that groups get together to sit and knit (or crochet) in the shop on a regular basis.
Excitement and nervousness. My first class starts today. Beginning Knitting. Class one session one of two. Step two of business plan. I’m very excited and hope I do a good job of teaching three women to enjoy knitting. And Saturday is Class two session one of two. Four new women. And my first July class is full and I haven’t even posted it yet!
Austin and I are going to start working on the website soon (about time). Now that he is done with college and I have the shop up and running, we’ll put our heads together.
Most of the yarns are in! Saturdays are open knit times at the shop from noon – five. Stop in anytime for a chance to sit, knit, and make new friends (or bring your old friends).
